Williams & Petro congratulates John J. Petro on his 50th year of practice!

John J. Petro was recently honored by Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio Bar Association for his 50th year of practice.  Mr. Petro graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA degree in 1959 and from the College of Law, The Ohio State University, in 1962.  He was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio on October 17, 1962.  He has had, and continues to have, a distinguished career in the area of Fidelity and Surety and Construction Law.  Among his considerable accomplishments, Mr. Petro is a Founding Fellow of American College of Construction Lawyers. He also serves as a member of American Bar Association Section on Public Contract Law, the American Bar Association Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, the American Bar Association Tort and Insurance Practice Section, and the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee.  In 2003, he was awarded the Martin J. Andrew Award for lifetime achievement in fidelity and surety law by the American Bar Association Fidelity and Surety Law Committee.

 Mr. Petro has also spent his career helping those less fortunate, performing countless hours of pro bono work.  He has coached in and supervised the Upper Arlington women’s softball league for nearly 40 years.  He maintains a busy practice and works with two of his four children, John P. Petro and Susan Petro.
