Susan S. R. Petro

Susan practices insurance defense and family law.  Her insurance defense work involves significant legal research and brief writing, including successful prosecution of dispositive motions throughout the state and federal trial courts of Ohio and prevailing arguments on appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Second, Fourth, Fifth, Tenth, and Twelfth District Courts of Appeal of Ohio.

Susan’s work on behalf of insurers also includes substantial coverage analysis and opinion writing.  Within this area of practice, Susan’s work has primarily involved:  employment discrimination; school board, county, law enforcement and other political subdivision liability; personal injury; and school, hospital, residential development, and other large-scale construction defect litigation.

In the family law arena, Susan prosecutes and defends divorce, contested custody, spousal support, property division, and child support cases in Franklin and surrounding county trial and appellate courts.  In addition, Susan has presented continuing legal education papers on subjects as diverse as domestic relations motion writing, contesting custody, and issues in assisted conception cases.

Susan has a 1987 Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science from The Ohio State University and a 1990 Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
